Ladies Beach in Al Ra’s al-Akhdar
On 1st September 1987 H.H. Sheikha Fatime bin Mubarak inaugurated the Ladies
Beach in Al Ra’s al-Akhdr. It was designed to be one of the most important parks
in the UAE for ladies and children, and was the first such beach to be
established in the UAE.
The beach, belonging to the General Women’s Union, overlooks a channel connected
to the Arabian Gulf, especially dug for this purpose.
The channel is 400 meters long and 60 meters wide, reaching a depth of 5 meters.
The beach includes a 9-hectare garden, well planted with trees to give shade,
which, at the same time, provide delightful surroundings.
Along the beach are floating and fixed craft as well as several rowing boats for
the use of visitors. The beach itself is well equipped with umbrellas to provide
shade, as well as chalets made of plam-fronds, which can be used for rest and
relaxation by visitors.
The park adjacent to the beach has a variety of children games in addition to a
leisure and electronic games indoor hall. The beach also includes a one meter
deep swimming pool, filled with seawater, and a cafeteria.
The Ladies Beach is an ideal place for women to enjoy sports like swimming,
rowing, tennis and volleyball, and also permits them to walk and exercise in a
private and secluded environment.
