Greetings dear members Today I have a new topic, as a matter of fact I lifted it from another forum with English lounge Simply, in this game every member chooses a word and puts detailed descriptions of it's meanings, synonyms and forms The purpose is to better our English through widening our knowledge of vocabulary Alright, why don't I start CONFIDANT One) A confidant is a person you trust so much that you confide in The Arabic counterpart is المُؤتمِن على الأسرار Two) Confidant comes from the source Confidence, which is a more formal word for Trust The Arabic counterpart is الثقة Three) The verb form of Confidence is Confide in Example: I had a terrible secret that has been bugging me for long, yesterday I decided to confide in Ahmed; my best friend The Arabic counterpart is يأتمن بسره إلى أحد... أو يُسِرُ إلى أحد Four) Although Confidence seems to be a positive quality, it could sometimes become negative when applied too much. In this case, it is called Over-confidence The Arabic counterpart is الثقة الزائدة بالنفس، وهي أقرب إلى الغرور أحياناً...! Five) There is word that comes from Confidence, it is Confidential However, Confidential is not the adjective form of Confidence and has nothing to do with Trust Confidential means something relating to oneself and not to be known to others Synonyms of Confidential are Secretive Classified ; which is mostly used in intelligence terminology Covert The Arabic counterpart is سري Finally ) The adjective form, however, of Confidence is Confident The Arabic counterpart is واثق [LEFT]By the way, a counterpart is something similar to someting else, even though being in a different category Its Arabic counterpart is نظير[/[/LEFT
