I won't lie, but I may not tell the whole truth I read about it in a blog some time ago, in which the writer marveled at this strange sentence When you think about it carefully, you realize how dangerous is that is; to not tell the whole truth rather than lying I mean, it's indeed deadly to lie, but not to tell the whole truth could be deadlier In the universe of propaganda, there is white, black and grey. White propaganda rests on truth, black propaganda rests on lies, but grey propaganda rests on lies built on initial truth. Commentators assure that grey propaganda is the deadlier than black propaganda, hence not telling the whole truth is deadlier than telling lies I mean, you could find out that something is a lie in certain situations, but how could you notice a short truth? It's almost impossible, unless you find out the other part of the story This is a bit confusing I know, but so is the sentence: "I won't lie, but I may not tell the whole truth?" Doesn't this sentence have political undercurrents? e

Bonsoir Tawwash, I agree with you that not telling the whole truth is worse than lying. I can relate this notion of not telling the truth to two important sectors of the society: politics and media. As far as the media is concerned, as you mentioned earlier, there is a propaganda that basically governs most News channels. In that case, a viewer should be critical of what s/he views, reads and listens to. and question the things that are presented to him or her as indisputable, ultimate truth. I am not glorifying the foreign media nor am I downgrading the local media. What I am trying to say is that people shouldn't be blindfolded by their local media . Integrity is the quest of most media channels yet that does not mean they are telling the truth every time you turn on you tv. people should widen their perspective by having different sources of news and be able to search for the truth for their selves so that when it comes to distinguishing what is a lie and what is half a truth; they already know the answer. But sister, it's not as easy as you make it out; differentiating between the truth and lies could be the most difficult manners, when that 'truth' comes from the media, or the political system
Now I don't want to delve into matters so deeply, but take a look at a major problem shackling out nation, the UAE The disorder in the population in the UAE is the talk of the town, we inhale it with air and most likely whine about it We know the existence of the problem, the government knows and the political system knows But who is put on charge of matters, a group of officials on carious different posts Where are the accurate figures pertaining to that disorder? Where are the possible calamities if such situation to go on for another 20 years There is nothing accurate about this huge problem, there is a 'plain' cover-up of the whole truth, we only the the magin of it, but the whole truth rests with those put responsible on the matter by the government Ah, Allah knows what could happen to our nation if this situation continue, we will become the Aborginies of the UAE with a special museum showing our lifestyle, the one that was ![]()

I do agree with you in that its hard to distinguish the truth from a plain lie when it comes from Media and a political system, yet, I think people should be always critical of those " truths". It is a hard task indeed. Our nation demographic problem , unfortunately, has gone too far. Many things could've been done in the past to regulate the flow of foreigners into the country if " the people in charge" took the problem seriously and tried to deal with it from the very beginning . Few days ago, when the Indian ambassador was singing the praises of his country's nationals and mentioning " their" immense contribution ( work force, infrastructure, etc ) to the development to the UAE, many people got upset. This was a big reality check and an unexpected one as well! Allah yester!

Assalamu 3laikum
I 'm afraid that this saying, exceeds the politicians and the circulators of propaganda, who we know that most of them are nothing but big liars needing to regain their credibility and popularity. This saying began to pervade all human communications. You can hear one saying, " There is no reason to tell the truth. But there is a reason to not tell the whole truth as a lie condemns; not telling the whole truth protects ."0 As for people , I think they can learn how to differentiate between a lie and half the truth through experience. This means a person could be slapped once to learn what the full truth is, and if he forgot, he could be slapped once more so that he would never forget. And if it happened again, he would fool himself and he deserves what would happen to him Regards |

Of course it is political undercurrents Most of the political used not to say the whole truth They can't lie, because of the media, and Media can follow them anywhere Media has so many resources to get NEWS and Some truth Hence, to avoid the public protest Political used not to say the whole truth That's my opinion / \ | BRAVE HEART
